Abstract

In March 2020 Denpasar City recorded inflation as high as 0.11 percent as indicated by the Consumer Price Index (CPI 2018 = 100) of 104.76. Meanwhile, the current year inflation rate in March 2020 and the year-on-year inflation rate (March 2020 against March 2019 or YoY) were recorded at as high as 1.07 percent and 2.95 percent, respectively.

Of the eleven expenditure groups, six expenditure groups recorded inflation (m to m), namely group IV (equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance) as high as 1.61 percent; group XI (personal care and other services) as high as 1.42 percent; group II (clothing and footwear) as high as 0.68 percent; group X (food and beverage / restaurant supply) as high as 0.28 percent; group VII (information, communication, and financial services) as high as 0.02 percent; and group V (health) as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, two expenditure groups recorded deflation, namely group VI (transportation) as deep as -0.88 percent and group I (food, beverages, and tobacco) as deep as -0.20 percent. Group III (housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels); group VIII (recreation, sports and culture); and group IX (education) did not experience changes in the index or stagnant.

Commodities recorded contributing to or contributing to inflation in March 2020 include, canang sari, gold jewelery, mango, purebred chicken, oily pastries, broiler eggs, mustard greens, chicory, bananas, and ground coffee.

From 90 CPI cities, 43 cities experienced inflation and 47 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation was recorded in Lhokseumawe City (Aceh) as high as 0.64 percent while the lowest inflation was recorded in Surabaya City (East Java), Surakarta City (Central Java), and Pekanbaru City (Riau) each as high as 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the deepest deflation was recorded in Timika City (Papua) as deep as -1.91 percent while the shallow deflation was recorded in Tangerang City (Banten) as deep as -0.01 percent. If sorted from the highest inflation, the city of Denpasar ranks 25th out of 43 cities experiencing inflation. [100-20200401]
